Black Girl Magic 4: More Inspiring Women Who Are Doing The Damn Thing

Black women rule the world. They are the ones who transcend every industry they touch. It is always important to give them their flowers while they can still smell them. They are not only the trendsetters of today, but they are trendsetters of tomorrow. These seven Black women are going to be the future in their respective fields. So without further ado, here are seven more women who are doing amazing work with their platform. I hope they inspire you just as much as they inspire me.

Aley Arion

Location: Los Angeles, California

Aley is a writer and digital storyteller who uses her platform as a digital diary to share insightful commentary and advice through the lens of the Black millennial experience. She talks about a multitude of things such as wellness, fashion/beauty, and lifestyle. Aley has earned herself the name the “neighborhood hope dealer.” Her honest and thoughtful storytelling has made her so easy to root for. She lets you into her world and makes you feel right at home. Eboni Ellis

Location: Washington D.C.

Eboni’s passion and love for music is unmatched. She has worked as a marketing representative for Universal Music Group, a urban marketing coordinator for Interscope Records, and a music program coordinator for the Kennedy Center. The playlists that she creates are just an amazing display of her musical range. She is also the co-founder of the mutual aid group, Frontline Women D.C., a collective group of Black women that are on the frontline of their community. Also, the woman is a DJ on the rise! Ellice Ellis

Location: Washington, D.C.

Ellice is a one of a kind multimedia producer, writer, and storyteller who is always about her community. Her work is extensive from doing social media for The Nod on Quibi to marketing and editorial writing for Universal Music Group and communications for mutual aid group Frontline Women D.C. Ellice is also a lead storyteller and co-creator of Can I Hold the Mic; a digital space that authentically and powerfully documents Black and Brown cultures’. Gabrielle Hickmon

Location: Ypsilanti, Michigan

Gabrielle is someone who everyone should know in the digital space. She has accomplished a multitude of things and it speaks for itself. She has written for multiple publications on topics such as travel, womanism, culture, etc. The digital creative has self-published a poetry book, sunny, in 2018 and she is a co-host on the podcast EightyTwo NinetySix. She is currently a freelance writer, creative director, and strategist who uses her amazing skill set to help people and businesses thrive. More importantly, she teaches writing workshops and has her own creative space called Studio Ione. She is the jack of all trades and her brand is only getting stronger. Kia Turner

Location: Newark, New Jersey

Kia is a one of one. Her contributions to her community should be acknowledged and respected. The multifaceted New Jersey native has her own website, As Told By Kia, which includes her playlists and archives of content. Additionally, she is a co-host of the podcast Pack Lite and has her own music series Deconstructing where she and a group of writers/creatives break down some of the greatest albums of all time. If that’s not enough, she is a part of an Black women collective on Clubhouse called Pussy Rap and All That where they praise Black women who rap about their sexual prowess. Njera Perkins

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Njera’s pen game is as exquisite as her music taste. The Baltimore native has made a name for herself as a storyteller and you can tell by her output of quality work. She is the Editor in Chief for the Baltimore website The 4th Quarter. She has also written for publications such as AfroTech, Shadow and Act, Daily Rap Facts, The Gumbo, etc. She is someone who is dedicated to her craft and always brings integrity in her journalism. Teaacup

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Teaacup is the voice of Atlanta; it’s plain and simple. Her platform, spilltheTEA TV, showcases the indie culture of Atlanta musicians, small business owners, events, and more. She always knows what is going on in the streets and what the future will be for a city that keeps on growing. It’s impossible to come to ATL and not check with her first.
